New SACS Website Goes Live

27 / 07 / 2024

The new SACS website went live on Saturday morning about 11.00, 27th July 2024.

During the development of the new website test versions of it were made available to SACS committee members. Based on their feedback several changes were made to the look and functionality of the website. Future new features are also planned.

Although SACS had a website previously, it was never registered in the name of the South African Collectors’ Society. The new website is now the first to use the full name of the South African Collectors’ Society and the first to be registered in the Society’s name. It links to the old website which is now known as the Otto Peetoom Legacy Website.

Development of the new website and the linking of it to articles in the Legacy Website is ongoing, as is the scanning of old copies of The Springbok magazine which are being made searchable.

The Otto Peetoom Legacy Website is currently searchable from within the new SACS website. However, the implementation of the Search facility across both old and new websites will only be fully functional once we have transferred the old Legacy Website to its new host. During this transfer period its Search facility will be disabled, possibly for as long as up to 10 days. We expect the Search to be restored across both old and new websites by 17th August 2024.
