Two Day Meeting arranged for Southern Africa Philately

17/04/2025

Hosted by The South African Collectors’ Society and building upon the successful meetings at Letchworth we are proud to announce that a two-day open meeting has been organised for Saturday 1st November and Sunday 2nd November 2025 with displays to cover all aspects relating to Southern Africa Philately.

It is anticipated that members of other Southern Africa societies will join us and bring their displays, so what can you offer to display?

The event will start at 10.30 am on Saturday with specialist displays and concluding at approximately 5.00 pm. On the Sunday smaller displays, no longer than 15 minutes, will start again about 10.30 am and continue to lunchtime.

A lunch-time spread will be available to all who attend on Saturday, free of charge, along with coffee and tea.

The Venue: The Letchworth Hall Hotel.

The venue is the four star ‘Letchworth Hall Hotel’ set in the open countryside of Hertfordshire, with a swimming pool, spa and fitness centre and close to J9 on the A1. It has ample free parking along with electric charging points, or it is a short taxi ride from Letchworth train station (30-40 minutes from Kings Cross).

The hotel will provide overnight accommodation for those attending the event. We currently have a block booking of 20 rooms to be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Double rooms are £130.00 for bed and breakfast, with single rooms £120.00. Bedrooms designed for the those with special needs are also available on request and are charged at the same price. Partners of those attending will be most welcome.

On Saturday evening we will host a 3-course dinner at the hotel with a wide choice of menu options. Menu details will be published nearer the time. It is hoped the dinner will be attended by all of those staying at the hotel, including partners, but it is also open to others who might wish to travel home on Saturday night. The cost of the evening meal is £45.00 per person.

The traditional raffle will be held during the day to raise funds towards providing wine for the tables at the dinner.

Further details will be announced nearer the time but, in the first instance, please note the date in your diaries. For those travelling from afar the hotel can offer accommodation on the Friday evening at the same rate and the Sunday evening if required.

Please register your interest as soon as possible with Lyn & Rob Lester especially if you wish to display, stay over and attend the Saturday dinner. Email Lyn and Rob.
