South African Expert Philatelic Study Booklets now available from SACS
Collectors of South African stamps and philately will find abundant expert advice within the pages of the 42 available SACS Study Booklets. (More are planned.) The current crop of these booklets is particularly strong on the era following the Union of South Africa in 1910 up to and including the Republic of South Africa.
Indeed, the series can generally be said to start with the first Union of South Africa stamp, the 2½d blue King George V 1910 Opening of Parliament issue. Its study booklet was compiled by Rob and Lyn Lester who have amassed a very impressive collection of this stamp singly and in blocks, on cover and also its issue’s accompanying ephemera. The Lester’s are notable for being the driving force behind the development of this series of indispensable philatelic reference works that are available to SACS members only.
The booklets cover a wide range of collecting topics from the Union to the decimalised Republic, Maritime Mail, the Homelands, Airmails and WW2, both Forces and Civilian mail. Interested collectors who want to see the full list of Study Booklets can click here.
