What’s Inside The Springbok – July 2025
The July magazine features a detailed report on the Kenilworth conference weekend held at the beginning of June. There was a fascinating display on the Railways of South West Africa by Tony Howgrave-Graham, illustrated with several scans of covers from his display. Bob Hill displayed his Shipping Postmaster date stamp collection and two covers from his display feature on the front cover of the magazine. Tony Johnson showed his Christmas Seal collection and Nick Arrow displayed Pioneer Airmails up to 1940.
Danna Strydon won the Abell trophy competition beating off four other entrants. A full report on the weekend’s activities is included as well as brief reports on the displays given on the Monday morning. Having held the Societies AGM at the meeting there is a record of the meeting minute for all to see.
Apart from the Kenilworth report there are a variety of contributions with part 2 of Tony Howgrave-Graham’s fascinating article on Revenues along with his regular SWA corner. Part 16 of Rob & Lyn Lester’s extensive listing of commercial, Union Cinderella, as well as Post Cards of South African Post offices.

The detailed contents of the July Springbok is given below. Tony Johnson the editor also writes to encourage all members to send him contributions to help keep the magazine topical, varied and of interest to all members.
