What’s inside The Springbok – April 2025
The issue contains 32 pages of articles on South African philately, postal history and postcards, as well as reports of our recent SACS meetings in Letchworth.

Tony Johnson, the Editor of the Springbok, writes:
“We hope you enjoy this latest issue of the Springbok. Although part 2 of Tony Howgrave-Graham’s Revenue article wasn’t ready we still have a full issue. Part 2 of Tony’s article will be in the next issue.
We have an interesting article on Airgraphs from Chris Oliver, which we hope you enjoy, together with all the usual articles from Lyn and Rob Lester and Tony Howgrave-Graham and meeting reports from Bob Hill.
Europhilex is coming up shortly (details on page 47) where our Treasurer, Simon Peetoom, has a table. I hope to see some of you there. Also there is an advert (on page 53) for an auction of South West Africa material later in May which I hope will enable some of you to fill some spaces in your collections.
We are always looking for our members to produce articles on their favourite issues or covers so if you think you can produce such an article we would love to consider publishing it. The cupboard is fairly bare at present so it would be lovely to have such an article in the next issue.
Last issue I had a lot of problems e-mailing our e-members, so if you didn’t receive your copy of the Springbok in PDF format it please contact me on tonyjohnson26@btinternet.com.”
Tony Johnson,
Editor.
NOTE: As Tony points out, this issue of the Springbok contains an advertisement for EuroPhilEx in Hall 9 of Birmingam’s National Exhibition Centre, Wednesday 7th to Sunday 11th March 2025. This event now opens in a few day’s time. Organised philately needs an over-arching event to bring us together and give our hobby social cohesion and purpose. If you want organised philately to survive, EuroPhilEx and local societies need your support!. Please make an attempt to attend. It is the main philatelic UK event of 2025.
This issue of The Springbok shows that what we do as a society we enjoy collectively. Join SACS to read more. It’s the Home for your Hobby! Just £10 per year. Click here ….
